Michael Voumard
Michael lives in southern Tasmania and is a keen runner, walker and cyclist - anything that gets him into nature really. He is besotted with his two golden retrievers and considers himself a gardener and a landscaper. His partner just wonders when the garden will be finished!
Michael has been involved with dying and death since a young age. His interest in death, how we farewell the dead, how we support the grieving, how we share our stories and knowing about death and dying, has been a lifelong professional focus - from his earlier days as a parish minister in rural Tasmania to his current roles with StandBy Support After Suicide. He is an avid learner and has more than 40 years experience in community based for purpose organisations and is particularly keen as organisations grow and develop to ensure that they don't lose sight of their original purpose. One of his more recent favourite sayings is 'fall in love with your purpose; commit yourself to the problem you are trying to solve above all else'.
