This presentation will deal with that segment of population which continues to show the highest rates of suicide worldwide. Despite this, it still continues to be the most neglected by prevention strategies. The presentation will review the dimension of the phenomenon "suicide in late life", exploring the gender paradox, especially at a very advanced age. It will discuss areas of concern and possible protective factors. It will help in understanding how to screen suicide danger and will comment on treatment and prevention opportunities.
