The National Suicide Prevention Strategy represents a significant landmark in suicide prevention in Australia.
Drawing on first-hand evidence provided by people with lived and living experience of suicide and the latest research, the Strategy identifies the steps required not only to improve the effectiveness of supports, but also prevent the emergence of suicidal distress in the first place.
This session will unpack the implications of this approach, and highlight opportunities for everyone working to prevent suicides to contribute to this change.
The session will also provide an introduction to the work already being led by the National Suicide Prevention Office to convert the Strategy into action. Including progress in development of the National Suicide Prevention Outcomes Framework.
